Title : Drug and alcohol use course Purpose statement : To persuade audience that having a mandatory course on drugs and alcohol abuse in high school is beneficial for the students because it would educate students on how to make conscientious decisions. Thesis statement : Having a course on drug and alcohol use should be mandatory in high school due to the decision making, health risks, and personal relationships that substance abuse could potential affect. Introduction : A lot of college students do not know the harm of drugs and alcohol now since they were not properly educated when they were in high school. Having a course in high school that is mandatory and that is only about drug and alcohol abuse would be very beneficial to students so that they do not get hurt or effected in a bad way. 1 strength :-- The topic was overall good to talk about since it was local -- It seemed like it would have maybe a kind of easy fix weakness : --they didn't really talk about a solution --they just said that the advisory for students had a solution, but it would mot likely worsen the problem, which is not a solution at all. 2 strength :-- The thesis clearly states the problem in the authors perspective --also shows how the problem can be fixed with the meal plans outside of the cafeteria. weakness : I think that if the author used some statistics and used some direct quotes from people or websites about the part where women eat more than men and how this solution would be the best would be good for the topic. 3 strength : --The author had really good facts to back up why we should adopt nuclear power -- talking about the climate changes in the atmosphere is really informative since it effects everyone weakness: I think that this proposal may be too big since it is ...

The topic I want to talk about is that high schools should all have a course on drug and alcohol abuse. I had a class like this in high school but it didn't talk about drugs and alcohol in a descriptive way and they didn't show images or videos of people who took them and the aftermath of it. Since I heard that 2 people from my high school overdosed, I think that this topic would be good for me to talk about.
